Why You Should Pay Attention To Your Timing Belt
How your timing belt works:
The belt ensures the valves allow air and fuel in and exhaust out of your engine at the right time. Belts have replaced timing chains and gears in modern engines becasaue they're lighter, quieter, and more efficient.
Where is it located:
The timing belt is behind the engine's front cover. It is not visible or easily accessible.
Timing Belt Maintenance:
With time and mileage, the timing belt will gradually wear out and eventually break. Inspection and replacement is recommended to prevent engine stalling due to belt breakage. Toyota recommends replacing the belt at 60,000 miles under severe driving conditions.
